JOB POSTING: PARKS MAINTENANCE POSITIONS (2) - STUDENT SUMMER EMPLOYMENT Organization: Village of Ashcroft Department: Public Works Position Type: Student Summer Employment (Union positions - CUPE Local 900) Job Overview: The Village of Ashcroft is currently seeking two (2) enthusiastic students for Parks Maintenance Positions in the Public Works Department during the summer of 2025. These union positions, affiliated with CUPE Local 900, will commence on Monday, May 5, 2025, and continue until Friday, August 29, 2025. Successful candidates will enjoy a competitive hourly wage of $23.72, along with an additional 4% in lieu of vacation and $1.25/hr in lieu of benefits (after completion of probationary period). The positions require a commitment to a 40-hour work week, scheduled Monday – Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Responsibilities: • Engage in various aspects of park maintenance • Perform occasional janitorial duties and general labor • Comfortably interact with the public, addressing general inquiries • Operate with a valid Class 5 Driver's License • Adapt to physically demanding tasks and work in diverse weather conditions Qualifications: • Genuine interest in outdoor work • Comfortable dealing with people in public facilities • Applicants with a valid Class 5 Driver's License preferred, “N” License or “L” License will be considered. • Ability to answer general questions and provide information • Ability to follow guidance and work autonomously Preferences: Preference may be given to students returning to a post-secondary institution in the fall. Students returning to secondary school will be considered.
