Job Title: Head Lifeguard – Outdoor Pool

Position Overview: As the Head Lifeguard, you are required to possess all necessary qualifications for lifeguarding and instructing swim lessons. You must adhere strictly to all lifeguard and instructor guidelines, along with the responsibility of ensuring that all pool staff fulfill their roles effectively to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment. Any deficiencies must be promptly reported to the Pool Supervisor.

Additionally, you are tasked with planning and organizing various courses and fun activities for public participation, while also maintaining an aesthetically appealing pool area through the use of posters, pictures, and other materials. You will be responsible for creating lesson schedules, which must be approved by the Pool Supervisor, and for conducting in-services, with written agendas submitted to the Village Office.

This role also encompasses lifeguard duties, which include chemical testing and balancing, cleaning and concession, monitoring pool area, preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and enforcing pool rules to create a secure and enjoyable experience for all. Strong public relations skills are essential. In addition to your primary duties, you may be required to assume the role of Pool Supervisor when necessary.

Proposed employment dates - Start: Wednesday, May 14, 2025 – End: Sunday, August 31, 2025

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality swim instruction to individuals of all ages and skill levels.

• Enforce lifeguarding guidelines and ensure the safety of all pool patrons.

• Supervise pool staff to ensure proper performance of duties, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. • Report any deficiencies to the Pool Supervisor promptly.

• Cultivate positive public relations and provide excellent customer service.

• Plan and organize various swim courses and recreational clubs for the public.

• Enhance the pool area's ambiance with engaging posters, pictures, and other visual materials.

• Prepare lesson schedules, subject to Pool Supervisor approval.

• Conduct in-services, submitting written agendas to the Village Office.

• Act as Pool Supervisor when required.

• Collaborate with other instructors and staff to enhance the overall swim program.

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool and surrounding areas. • Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe and positive environment.

• Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.

• Provide first aid and CPR as needed.

• Assist in pool maintenance tasks as required.

• Interact with pool visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

• Concession includes admission, sales, swim lesson registration.

Qualifications:

• Current certification: Lifesaving Instructor / Examiner, National Lifeguard Pool Certification (NL) and Life Saving Society Swim for Life Instructor Certification

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

• Previous experience as a head lifeguard is preferred but not required.

• Strong swimming skills and a genuine passion for teaching. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Strong leadership abilities and a positive attitude.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

• Competitive hourly wage - $25.99 per hour with an additional 4% in lieu of vacation and $1.25/hr in lieu of benefits upon meeting probationary requirements.
