Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teamster to oversee horse-drawn wagon rides and provide exemplary care for our team of horses. This role is crucial for enhancing the guest experience at the ranch and requires a passion for horses, agriculture, and engaging with the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct horse-drawn wagon rides and agricultural demonstrations for guests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
Provide daily care and maintenance for the horses, including feeding, grooming, and health checks.
Utilize farrier skills for the maintenance and care of horse hooves (preferred but not mandatory).
Share historical facts with visitors regarding the ranch and its significance, fostering an educational environment.
Carry out repairs and maintenance of tack and agricultural equipment.
Administer first aid to animals and notify a veterinarian in case of emergencies.
Collaborate with the team to maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.
Comply with the ranch's operational procedures and dress code requirements.
Qualifications:
High school education plus a minimum of two years of experience in handling draft horses or operating agricultural equipment.
Comfort and familiarity in working with livestock, particularly draft horses.
Knowledge in the use of horse tack, farm equipment, and agricultural practices.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidates with less driving experience may be considered at a lower classification.
Notes:
This position requires weekend and holiday availability.
On-site living arrangements may be possible for the right candidate.
