Wage: $40.65/hour

About the Role
The Village of Ashcroft is seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Operator to join our dedicated Public Works team. Under the direction of the crew leaders, this position involves performing advanced maintenance, repair, and construction work to ensure the safety, functionality, and sustainability of our municipal facilities and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
• Perform skilled maintenance and repair tasks, which may include: welding, mechanical repairs, and carpentry for municipal facilities and equipment.
• Operate and maintain a variety of tools, machinery, and vehicles.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently.
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment and infrastructure.
• Mentor and oversee the skills development of other team members.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and practices.
• Respond to emergency repair needs and participate in an on-call rotation (average one week every eight weeks).
• Perform other duties as required, including tasks assigned by Equipment Operators 1 and 2. (This position is exempt from scheduled seasonal arena shifts)
• Participate in Health and Safety and other Training Programs
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification such as, but not limited to one of the following trades:
o Red Seal Millwright
o Red Seal Mechanic
o Red Seal Carpenter
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance, repair, or a related field.
• Proven skills in welding, mechanical repairs, or carpentry.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Valid Class 3 driver’s license (additional certifications such as forklift or heavy machinery operation are a plus).
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Acceptable Driver Abstract
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent standing, walking, and work in various environmental conditions.
