Ashcroft Terminal and the PSA Group are seeking a Rail Equipment Operator to join our growing team!

As the only private logistics terminal in Canada with CP & CN mainlines onsite, ATL is strategically located to help shippers, manufacturers, and producers prepare their commodities for export or import. In the position of Rail Equipment Operator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation of rail equipment, ensuring the smooth running of site operations, and maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy. This position also involves managing administrative tasks related to rail operations and working closely with the Assistant Terminal Manager to suggest process improvements.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating rail equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all rail operating procedures are followed.
  • Operating the track mobile to transport railcars to designated areas within the yard.
  • Coupling and uncoupling of rail cars through the operation of handbrakes accordingly and as per policy.
  • Actively communicating by radio to ensure safe transportation of rail cars.
  • Completing daily and weekly mechanical and equipment checks and inspections.
  • Performing general labour tasks (as required), to assist with site maintenance.
  • Communicating efficiently with the Assistant Terminal Manager, making recommendations on process improvements.
  • Participating in training as required.
  • Adhering to all company policies, processes, and procedures.

Basic Administration Duties:

  • Completing detailed and accurate timecards.
  • Keeping precise records of railcar and train movements within the yard.
  • Ensuring all paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Reading and signing off on all related company SOPs.
  • Conducting daily equipment checks.

For success in this role, you must have:

  • Your Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Your valid Canadian Rail Operating Rules certification is considered an asset.
  • The ability to perform physically repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
  • The ability to work outside year-round in all weather conditions during irregular working hours.

Compensation: $25.00-$34.00 per hour
