Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Grower to lead our agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale vegetable and crop production. Fluency in Spanish is a desired requirement for this role due to the nature of our diverse workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the daily operations of large-scale vegetable and crop production.
• Develop and implement effective growing strategies to maximize yield and quality.
• Monitor and manage drip / overhead sprinklers irrigation systems and schedules to ensure optimal water use in desert conditions.
• Supervise and train a team of field workers, ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols.
• Conduct soil analysis and implement soil management practices to maintain soil health and fertility.
• Manage pest and disease control programs, utilizing both chemical and biological methods.
• Coordinate with the packing and distribution teams to ensure timely and efficient harvest and post-harvest handling.
• Maintain accurate records of all agricultural activities, including planting schedules, pesticide applications, and harvest yields.
• Ensure compliance with all local, province, and federal agricultural regulations.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in root vegetables, cole crop and crop production.
• Climate: Proven experience in growing within the Canada.
• Irrigation: Demonstrated expertise with various irrigation methods including drip, solid set, and pivot systems, as well as generating water schedules.
• Language: Fluency in Spanish is desired.
• Food Safety: Experience in implementing and maintaining food safety protocols.
• Equipment: Knowledge of equipment setup (cultivators/planters)
• Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: Relevant agricultural certifications are a plus.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred
• Technology: Experience with agricultural management software and technology.
• Sustainability: Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and principles.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in outdoor conditions year-round.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during peak seasons.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
